In the world of small cars, the name Autobianchi looms large. As one of Italy’s premier manufacturers of tiny cars, they literally wrote the book on how to make big things happen in a small package. In 1957, Autobianchi produced their first car based on the famous Fiat 500. At just 15 horsepower, the little Bianchina, as it was called, was smart in design and great on gas. Horsepower soon increased to 18 and it was available as a sedan, roadster, station wagon, and van. With its rear wheel drive versatile platform, it was a very popular car and Autobianchi had placed itself firmly on the map as a builder of reliable small cars.
Offered here is a splendid example of this most iconic little car that is sure to provide miles of smiles. This Bianchina is finished in brilliant white with a tan interior. This cute little car just received a full rotisserie restoration in 2016 that returned it to factory condition. The interior features an amazing amount of space for such a small car, surely a tribute to the company’s excellent design work. Simplicity is the hallmark of the Bianchina with simple trim work, bucket seats, and a single pod which houses a speedometer that reads to a rather optimistic 110 miles per hour. The Bianchina rides on a 72.4-inch wheelbase with rear passenger seating directly over the axle. Power for this little microcar comes from a twin cylinder 500 cc Fiat engine that offers complete and total reliability. The engine compartment is nicely detailed with correct colors and wiring, and this is a car that is extremely easy to service due to its simplistic design. The chassis and all other suspension components are also clean and in good order.
The microcar has an appeal all its own and this little Autobianchi Bianchina literally defines charming. Best of all, it takes up nothing more than a corner in the garage for storage. For big fun around town, this little Bianchina is a car that gathers admiration wherever it goes.
