1,779 cc DOHC inline four-cylinder engine, Spica fuel-injection, five-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension with wishbones, coil springs, and stabilizer bar, live rear axle with central wishbone, longitudinal struts, coil springs, and stabilizer bar, dual-circuit, servo-assisted hydraulic four-wheel disc brakes; wheelbase: 2,350 mm (92.5”)

In parallel to the debut of the new 1750 Berlina or saloon for 1967, Alfa Romeo launched the newly restyled 1750 GTV, with the ‘V’ suffix denoting the handsome Bertone coupe’s high-performance “Veloce” specification. One of the all-time greatest driver’s cars from Alfa Romeo, the 1750 GTV retained the original basic bodyshell and wonderful proportions of the original GT 1300/GT Junior 1.6 bodyshell, but gained a new quad-headlamp frontal design, lost the former “step front” styling, and trim and detailing were refined. Interior accommodations were also improved. The renowned 1,779 cc DOHC inline ‘four’ was retained, later enlarged to 2.0 litres’ displacement. Robustly built, handsomely styled, and great to drive, the GTV of the late 1960s remains a favorite among collectors who actually like to drive.

Most recently from the collection of a passionate San Francisco Alfa Romeo enthusiast, who at one time owned approximately 25 Alfas. This desirable fuel-injected 1750 GTV received a selective restoration between 2007-2008 as needed to freshen the aged, but solid original cosmetics and mechanicals. Work included repairs to the underbody as required, plus new paint, complete upholstery and trim, rubbers and emblems, restoration of the instruments, freshened wheels, a fuel-system service, and restoration of the brakes and suspension. The powertrain, ancillary systems, and Spica fuel-injection system were also renewed. The resulting car is an absolute thrill to drive as originally intended. The DOHC engine demonstrates a quiet and even idle, pulling strongly from low RPMs, right up to redline – and the five-speed gearbox is precise and smooth in operation both up and down through the gears. The wonderfully tight suspension, precise steering, and sophisticated four-wheel disc brakes round out the GTV.

The cosmetic presentation is consistent with a high-end driver. The passenger cabin is freshly trimmed in correct materials, as are the dash and woodgrain trim. Both the engine and luggage compartments are equally nice in presentation. Riding on beautifully refinished wheels and newer tires, this highly desirable 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV Iniezione includes amber front lenses and a period-authentic Italian license plate up front to complete the ensemble for the ultimate late-1960s Italian experience. Documentation reflecting much of the restoration work mentioned above accompanies the vehicle, along with the original tools in their vinyl sleeve, plus a spare wheel assembly. The Alfa Romeo GTV is a wonderful automobile in all regards, and this example would make for a wonderful driver while eliciting many favorable comments while out and about.
