The pickup truck of the modern era bears little resemblance to its predecessor from decades ago as luxurious interiors, a smooth ride, and multiple cup holders are the hallmarks of any modern truck. This wasn’t always the case, as the pickup truck of yesteryear was a utilitarian vehicle that was made for a purpose. Built for work on the farm or the job site, these were the trucks that built America. Starting with the famous Model T, Ford offered trucks for all purposes and when the Model A arrived things got even better. For just $445, a buyer could have Ford’s Model A pickup, a truck that was reliable, sturdy, and stylish.

Offered here is beautifully restored 1931 Model A Pickup finished in a lovely green with black fenders and Apple Green wire wheels. This Ford pick-up wears an older restoration that has held up well over the years. The charm of Henry’s Model A is clearly evident in the simplistic front end that has a modest, yet entirely appropriate black radiator with matching headlights. The iconic body lines are enhanced on the driver’s side by a single side-mounted spare tire. The body of this pickup is excellent, with all panels in correct alignment and all trim in good order. The bed is nicely finished in beautiful wood and the undercarriage of this truck is clean. Power for this truck comes from Ford’s tried and proven 200.5 cubic-inch L-Head four rated at 40 horsepower and it is also fitted with an optional Auto-Lite manifold heater. The interior of this pick-up is just what one would expect from the Model A with a simplistic charm that makes it easy to maintain and fun to drive. In the finest tradition of the purpose-built truck, you’ll find no cup holders here, just proper transportation with all the charm of yesteryear.

The Ford Model A Pickup for 1931 was a vehicle that served many purposes. In the present day, this fine truck represents a time in America when things were simple and a trip to the hardware store was a cause for adventure. Collectors of quality trucks and early American automobiles should look this fine example over closely to fully appreciate its condition and the true meaning of the utilitarian pickup truck of the early days.
