Brock Yates dedicated his entire life to automotive enthusiasts around the world. As the Editor At Large of Car and Driver Magazine for 40 years, he was deeply immersed in car culture and was the mastermind behind such great events as the Cannonball Sea-To-Shining-Sea run and One Lap of America. As a best-selling author, he penned 15 books and two screenplays. Brock’s work was featured in all of the major car magazines as well as the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. Needless to say, Brock's influence touched many people in many ways and when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s he began his greatest fight ever. In 2013, the Brock Yates Memorial Fund was created as a way to raise money and increase awareness of Alzheimer's and its effects. In support of this mission, all the proceeds from the sale of his Suzuki GS 550 will go toward supporting this Fund that has given so much in the care, support, and research, of this terrible disease.

Brock’s Suzuki GS 550 is a well-preserved example of this iconic bike of the 1970s. Its four-cylinder engine speaks to a time when power was on the rise in Japanese motorcycle manufacturing. Finished in blue, its classic lines are reminiscent of the early motorcycle culture. It was recently fully tuned and runs great. Included with the motorcycle are all the original ownership documents and title which are still in his name. Brock is the only registered owner this bike ever had as he purchased it directly from the factory and had it delivered to his Torrington, Connecticut home. He learned to ride and actually took his licensing exam on this very bike. Eventually, he moved to his famed ranch in Wyoming, New York where he kept the bike until his death. This Suzuki is being sold on a bill of sale to protect all the original documentation that comes with it.

The Suzuki GS 550 was a great bike to own in the 1970s and as a man dedicated to speed and sport it was the perfect bike for a man like Yates. For an iconic motorcycle that pays tribute to both a great man and a worthy cause, this Suzuki GS 550 will be a wonderful addition to any collection as “the bike that Brock Yates” rode.
