6.75L Twin-Turbo V-8 engine, 400 HP, four-speed automatic transmission, front lever-arm suspension, rear trailing-arm suspension, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes; wheelbase: 120.5”

The Azure debuted in March 1995 at the Geneva Motor Show on the platform of the Continental R model, but production only crept to a start, with a mere nine examples finished in the first year. Pininfarina assisted in the two-year process of morphing the Continental R into a handmade, full luxury Grand Touring four-seater convertible, even building the shell and soft-top assembly at their factory in Italy. Final assembly was carried out by the Bentley and Rolls-Royce craftsmen at Crewe. At 210 inches in length and 5,750 pounds in weight, the Azure is an impressive vehicle, with an undeniable luxury car presence and ample seating for four adult passengers. Handcrafted with old-school luxury, a modern Bentley is a perfectly balanced blend of fine natural materials and high-performance motoring. Make no mistake, this lovely yellow 2002 Azure is the pinnacle of the coveted Mark 1 Series, with desirable Coachwork by Mulliner. With just 2,311 miles from new, it’s one of the most desirable luxury motorcars of the era, and one of the last motorcars that could be ordered as fully customizable, with virtually no limit to the options. Prices ran from $347,000 to nearly a $500,000.
Power for this brilliant Azure comes from the stalwart 6.75-litre V-8, in impeccably clean condition and featuring twin intercooled Garrett turbochargers that easily and silently produce 385 horsepower. With an advertised zero-to-sixty mile per hour time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph, the Azure is brilliantly sporty for a car of its size, with a very smooth ride and impressive braking ability from the four-wheel power disc brakes. A computer-controlled four-speed automatic transmission allows for an even quicker 0-60 times in as low as 5.5 seconds, and yet the Azure is easily used as the everyday vehicle of your family as well.
Pure luxury awaits you inside with a high level of craftsmanship; the roomy interior is outfitted with black Connelly leather seats, fine real wood trim, and lambswool carpets. The interior is spotless, and the well-bolstered seats are heated and feature four memory settings for ease of rear passenger entry. It is one of the most comfortable and well-designed interiors available anywhere, even more highly optioned than the Continental so, of course, power-assisted windows, locks, and doors are all standard equipment. The impeccable four-layer black convertible top is power-assisted, and assures the passengers of a refined, quiet ride when in place. The amazing engine-turned aluminum dash holds a CD changer along with a full gauge package, as well as plenty of burled walnut and factory air-conditioning.
The brilliant yellow paint is like new, showcasing the classic Coachwork by Mulliner. From top to bottom, it’s obvious this was a cherished and pampered vehicle since being acquired by the Knies family in 2002. From the top to the undercarriage, this fine Azure is a spectacular survivor that stands ready to take its rightful place in the lucky high-bidder’s garage. This limited ownership Texas car would be a perfect addition to a collection and a candidate for nearly any type of car event, whether it’s a show, a rally, an RROC or Bentley marque event, or just a night on the town with good friends. This Mark 1 Azure convertible is in every sense a true Bentley, with all the impeccable interior refinements and spirited performance that the brand has always represented.
